Between 2002 and 2008, the YAGEO Foundation started organizing the YAGEO Tech-Art Award in conjunction with the Asian Cultural Council of Taiwan. Each year, one Taiwanese artist is nominated to participate in an artist residency program at Location One, a tech-art village in New York City, where the winner of the award undertook a six-month program of advanced studies and activities designed to enhance creative expressionism and output.
The objective of the YAGEO Tech-Art Award was to motivate local artists, elevate the potential of tech-art in Taiwan and stimulate cultural exchange between Taiwanese artists and the international art community. All applicants are vetted by a jury panel which included representatives from the YAGEO Foundation, national universities throughout Taiwan, the Asian Cultural Council and at one point Tate Liverpool.
